Counseling & Professional Support

Counseling & Supervision

I offer counseling for children, teens, and adults, as well as professional supervision for Residents in Counseling and practitioners pursuing play therapy credentials.

Working Together

Counseling

I work with clients to understand their goals and where they want to be. Session by session, we work together toward those goals using different therapeutic modalities.

Connection to others is deeply important, and people can lose that connection for many reasons. I help clients focus on building connection to themselves and others. Sometimes that means working to overcome trauma or grief, refocusing self-talk, or reevaluating goals and priorities. Here, we approach that work in different ways based on each client's needs.

Welcoming counseling space

My clients and I collaborate to identify, change, or adjust patterns that are outdated and to create positive patterns that last. My work focuses on developing stronger connections, building self-esteem, addressing trauma and its effects on present relationships, establishing or maintaining more effective communication patterns, and increasing self-reliance.

Populations Served

  • Children ages 4 and above
  • Teens
  • Adults
  • LGBTQIA2S+ clients
  • Neurodivergent clients

Therapeutic Approaches

I often integrate strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems Therapy.

As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, I also use play, art, and sand to help clients express themselves. As a Certified EMDR Therapist with specialized training in EMDR therapy for children and adolescents, I integrate EMDR with play and art when working with children and teens.

Professional Development

Supervision

I offer LPC licensure supervision to Residents in Counseling and enjoy helping others foster growth, build new skills, and manage the stress associated with this practice. I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor through the Center for Credentialing & Education, approved as an LPC supervisor through the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a Boost 200 participant.

I am also a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and enjoy supervising practitioners who are expanding their skills as they work toward becoming Registered Play Therapists.
